Transfer press allows a wide variation in the working stage spacing, an increased free space for suction traverses and workpiece holders and increased punch tilting resistance. A transfer press has several individual single stage press units (1.1-1.3), set-down stations (12) for orientation of workpieces (18) between stages, carrier rails (9, 10) which extend through the entire press and which are connected to suction traverses (11) or gripper elements for workpiece feed and withdrawal and step-wise transfer between the stages and the set-down stations, and transverse slide tables (8) for changing the press tools (19), the suction traverses (11) or gripper elements and the workpiece holders (17) of the set-down stations (12). The set-down stations (12) are positioned on the symmetry axes (13) of tie-rod boxes (16) of adjacent press units (1.1-1.3), the boxes (16) being arranged sequentially on a straight line or diagonal transverse to the transport direction. The spacing (A) of the pressure points (7) of the punches (5) in the transport direction corresponds to twice the length of the transport step (B) between the press units (1) and the set-down stations (12) minus the width (C) of a side frame (4) associated with a tie-rod (15) and minus twice the distance (D) from the center of a pressure point (7) to the outer edge of the side frame (4). The free space (E) for the suction traverses (11) and workpiece holders (17) at the side of the slide table (8) corresponds to the length of the transport step (B) between the press units (1) and the set-down stations (12) minus half the width (F) of the slide table (8) and minus half the side frame width (C). The punches (5) are guided on the side frames (4) at the side frame spacing. The tie-rod boxes (16) and tie-rods (15), associated with each press unit (1), are arranged roughly symmetrical to the axis (25) of the transport direction to provide alternate small and large tie-rod spacings for adjacent press units (1). Adjacent press units (1) have a common side frame (4) or each press unit (1) has a separate side frame. The common or separate side frames (4) of the odd numbered press units (1.1, 1.3) is connected by a cross-traverse to a side frame pair. |
