The invention relates to preparations that are free of cross-linking agents. Said preparations are obtained by adding precipitating agents to aqueous solutions or homogenized suspensions of chitosanes and then dehydrating said solutions or suspensions. The invention also relates to a method for producing the inventive preparations and to their use as cosmetic agents, medicaments and medical products and foods.
