<p>A novel laser device which comprises a laser oscillator, a group velocity dispersion control unit, and a transmission unit, all mounted in the same housing, and which can be used for various light sources, requires no optical axis adjustment, and permits outputs via an optical fiber. The laser oscillator generates pulsed light, the group velocity dispersion control unit controls the group velocity dispersion of pulsed light output from the laser oscillator, and the transmission unit consists of at least a collimator and an optical fiber, and transmits pulsed light having group velocity dispersion controlled by the group velocity dispersion control unit. The laser oscillator, the group velocity dispersion control unit and one end of a fiber are fixed to one supporting sheet. The laser oscillator and the group velocity dispersion control unit are respectively provided on the front and rear surfaces of the support element. The group velocity dispersion control unit may use a wavelength-variable laser or a length-variable optical fiber.</p> |
