A vehicle lamp has at least one segment that can be excited for the light output. Structure following the segment(s) has: - at least one gas (21) enclosed in a container (20); - at least one surface-adhesive dielectric (23) bounding the container on at least two sides; and - at least two electrodes (31,32) adjoining the dielectric. At least one electrode is transparent. The transparent electrode consists of indium-tin oxide. The lamp comprises several segments (10) lying beside one another. It also comprises several segments lying behind one another. The container for the gas(es) is bounded by optical elements, especially by prismatic structures or micro-prism foils.
