A car headlamp has a light source (11), and a movable screen (50) between an ellipsoid reflector (20) and a collector lens. Devices (80-83) are provided for the horizontal movement of the screen transversely to the optical axis of the headlamp in order to bring the screen selectively into two positions, i.e., into a first position in which the edge of the screen is located on the radiation path of the light beams to form a light beam with the light-dark boundary according to the first profile and into a second position in which the edge of the screen in relation to the first position is displaced to form a light beam with a light-dark boundary according to a second profile.
