An artificial neural tube which remains in the body until the completion of nerve regeneration but does not remain as a foreign matter thereafter, induces the regeneration of axon from a cut-end of a cut nerve, promotes the invasion of capillary blood vessels <i>in vivo</i>, and thus promotes the regeneration of a nerve tissue. Namely, an artificial neural tube composed of a tube made of a biodegradable material, a microfibrous collagen material inserted into the tube and laminin packed into the voids of the microfibrous collagen material; and a process for producing the artificial neural tube.
