<p>The invention relates to a method and a device for decoding encoded source signals which have been sent via a transmission channel. The received signals (S) are first pre-decoded in a channel decoder (8) and source-encoded parameters are determined from the received signals (S) and then routed to a source decoder (12) that is spatially separate from the channel decoder (8), where they are further decoded. In the pre-decoding process, reliability data is obtained from the received signals (S) which is correlated with the transmission quality. This reliability data is used in an error masking procedure to estimate the transmitted source-encoded parameters, using the received source-encoded parameters as a starting point. The error masking procedure is already carried out at the location of channel decoder (8) and the estimated source-encoded parameters are routed to the source decoder (12).</p> |
