Repair of mesh electrode spaced from electrode pan

Method is used for repairing an electrode assembly where a series of electrically conductive spaced-apart standoffs (6) connect a mesh electrode (21) at their top to a back pan (2) at their bottom, each stand-off comprising a projecting member (16), between the mesh electrode and the pan, plus an upper leg member which is in face-to-face contact with the mesh. Method comprises: (a) separating at least a substantial amt. of an upper leg member from a projecting member of a standoff, leaving a stand-off projecting member; (b) inserting at least one replacement assembly (16) comprising projecting and upper leg members, adjacent and in contact with the standoff member, and the projecting member being in face to face contact with the standoff projecting member; while in the replacement: (i) providing a replacement upper leg member at the top of the original projecting member; (ii) securing the standoff and replacement projecting members in face-to-face contact with one another; and (iii) securing electrode mesh to the replacement upper leg member. Also claimed are the repaired electrode assembly, and an electrode assembly repair standoff.
