Process for treating waste gases containing tin compound or tin compounds and apparatus for making the same

(A) Metal (e.g. tin)-contg. species are removed from a vapour by contact with an acidic liq. absorbing medium of pH max. 6. (B) Tin cpds. are continuously removed from exhaust gases, generated when hot glass bottles are contacted wtih a tin halide, by contacting the exhaust gases with an aq. acidic liq. absorbing medium until the medium contains more than 5 wt.% tin. (C) Also claimed are (i) appts. for carrying out process (A) or (B); (ii) a process generating exhaust vapour contg. metal-contg. species, in which the vapour is treated as in (A) or (B) to remove the metal-contg. species; (iii) the treated exhaust stream from process (ii); and (iv) a metal species-contg. liq. product resulting from use as absorbing medium in process (A) or (B).
