In the present invention there is disclosed a process for preparing purines of the general formula A, in which individual symbols have meaning specified in the main claim. The invented process is characterized by preparation of the compound of the general formula I in such a manner that the compound of the general formula II is brought into reaction with the compound of the general formula V under formation of the compound of the general formula VI, whereby in the individual formulae the general symbols are as specified in the main claim, whereupon the intermediate of the formula VI is converted to the compound of the formula I by decarboxylation and the obtained compound of the general formula I is then transferred to a the product of the formula A by transferring any Ri3 to amino group by reduction of ester group and optionally by formation of acyl or phosphate derivative, whereby the reaction is carried out by making use of the intermediate of the formula I in which Ri2 represents a chlorine atom. In the present invention the intermediate of the general formula I forms part of the invented solution, too.
