The invented headlight for motor vehicles employs a light source (2), an adjustable optical refractor (4) disposed above the light source (2) and serving for distance light to deviate beams leaving the light source (2) toward a reflector (1) upper reflecting portion (11), and a non-transparent diaphragm (3) situated below the light source (2) and serving for lower beam to prevent impingement of beams leaving the light source onto said reflector (1) reflecting portion (12).
