In the present invention there is disclosed an adaptable absorption article intended for use in underwear. The article selectively comprises protective side flaps having surface turned toward underwear and containing adhesive (22) for adhering of the article to underwear, whereby the adhesive (22) has actual adhesive surface and defines a theoretical adhesive surface (24) inside an infinite line (26) that is the shortest line encompassing the adhesive (22) and not extending over circumference of the surface turned toward underwear. The article is elastically extensible in at least one direction parallel to the surface turned toward underwear, particularly in two directions being non-parallel to each other. The ratio of the actual adhesive surface to the surface turned toward underwear is at least 0.5, the ratio of the theoretical adhesive surface (24) to the surface turned toward underwear is within the range of 0.6 to 1.0 in articles without the protective side flaps and 0.5 to 1.0 in articles with the protective side flaps and flexibility of the article measured in longitudinal direction is in the range of 1300 to 3500 mg x cm.
