PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a non-woven fabric having a sufficient strength, not broken even on wrapping it around a group of electrode plates, and suitable for a battery separator excellent in electrolyte liquid-holding property and short circuit-preventing property by performing a hydrophilicity-imparting treatment of a wet type fiber web containing a polyolefin-based fiber and then water flow-treating. SOLUTION: This non-woven fabric is obtained by treating a fiber web containing >=50 mass % polyolefin-based fiber and >=20 mass % each polyolefin- based sheath-core type hot melt fiber and similar polyolefin-based water flow dividable fiber, and formed by a wet type method with a hydrophilicity- imparting treatment selected from a graft treatment, sulfonating treatment, fluorine gas treatment and electric discharging treatment, then water flow- treating to divide the above dividable fiber to generate very fine fibers and also interlacing them, and then drying. |
