摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the responsiveness of an electric motor to rotation control by reducing the inertial moments of the rotating part of each independent wheel drive component for rolling stock. SOLUTION: The electric motor shaft 103d of an electric motor 103 is formed of a hollow pipe shaft, through which a driveshaft 11 is passed. The torque of the electric motor 103 is transmitted to each wheel 104 via a speed reducer 108, a deflecting plate 112, the driveshaft 111 and a deflecting plate 113 to rotate each wheel 104. The deflecting plates 112, 113 are thin enough so that inertial moments are small, and an arrangement wherein the driveshaft 111 is positioned within the electric motor shaft 103d allows reductions in overall radial dimension and inertial moments. Hence, the overall inertial moments of rotating parts are reduced and the responsiveness of the electric motor to rotation control is enhanced. Further, the displacement of the wheels 104 is dispersed by the two deflecting plates 112, 113 and can be reasonably absorbed.
