PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a machining time of a work by reliably removing machining chips from a gap between the poles of an electrode and a work. SOLUTION: Electric discharge machining is applied on a work W by applying a pulse voltage on a gap between the poles of an electrode 19 for machining a rib and a work W and the electrode 19 for machining a rib is caused to effect jump operation according to a jump demand. In a so formed electric discharge machine, control of jump operation of the electrode 19 for machining a rib is carried out by an electric discharge machining control device 31 being a jump operation control means on a condition that a raising and lowering feed speed is 20 m/min or more and an acceleration deceleration speed of a feed is 1.0 G or more.
