PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain increase in the durability of electroconductive fiber without elution of the electroconductive substance used in the fiber by allowing an azinyl group-bearing compound to adhere and bond to the electroconductive fiber to which an electroconductive substance is bonded on its surface. SOLUTION: This electroconductive fiber is prepared by allowing an electroconductive substance, for example, copper sulfide, silver sulfide, silver or the like to bond to polymeric fiber, for example, acrylonitrile fiber on its surface, be immersed in an aqueous solution including an azinyl group-bearing compound, for example, ethyleneimine, N-alkyl-N',N'-ethylene urea or the like in a concentration of 0.2-8, preferably 0.2-6 mmol/l, then, treated at 40-100, preferably 60-95 deg.C for 0-90, preferably 20-60 minutes, successively washed with water and dried.
