PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate carriage of an article to be printed during and after cutting operation by providing a print head, a cutter having a cutter part for cutting the article to be printed into a predetermined shape, and a moving mechanism for varying the height at the cutter part and the cutting depth of the cutter part. SOLUTION: When a first relatively low voltage is applied to a solenoid 32, the solenoid 32 pulls a mover 34 by a first relatively short distance. Consequently, a cutter 15 fixed to the mover 34 moves downward to drive a cutter part 27 into an article to be printed 11 by an intermediate depth (half cut). When a second relatively high voltage is applied to the solenoid 32, the solenoid 32 pulls the mover 34 by a second relatively long distance and the cutter 15 fixed to the mover 34 moves downward to drive the cutter part 27 into the article to be printed 11 by full depth. A moving mechanism 30 is arranged to vary the height at the cutter part 27 of the cutter 15 by varying the voltage being applied to the solenoid 32.
