摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure dimensional accuracy by keeping the substantially uniform shape distortion of a female spline part in the axial direction in implementing the thermosetting treatment of the female spline part of a cylindrical shaft in a machining method of the cylindrical shaft having dissimilar outer circumference. SOLUTION: This method for machining a cylindrical shaft 10 with a projecting shaft spline-fitted thereto comprises a process to form a female spline part 13 on the cylindrical shaft 10 in which the outside diameter of a specified area in the axial direction is dissimilar to the other area, and a process to implement the thermosetting treatment to the female spline part 13 of the cylindrical shaft 10, the heat capacity of each part in the axial direction is unified by placing a heat radiation jig to unify or substantially unify the heat radiation of each part in the axial direction of the female spline part 13 to an area whose outside diameter is smaller in the cylindrical shaft 10 in this thermosetting treatment process, and the shape distortion of the female spline part 13 is substantially uniform in the axial direction.
