PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the strength of a brace in a bracing device connecting adjacent supporters (or side panels) for improving rigidity in a rack provided with supporters (or side panels) like a bookshelf or a table. SOLUTION: The frame of a rack is formed of four supporters 1 and beams 2 connecting the upper ends and lower ends of adjacent supporters 1. Many groove holes 5 for engaging a shelf board are bored at proper vertical intervals at each supporter 1. A bracing device 6 is formed of a brace 7 extending in a tilting state and a metal fitting 8 fitted at both ends of it, and plural engaging pawls 9 provided at the fitting 8 are engaged with the holes 5 of the supporter 1. The extension line of the centerline of the brace 7 is set so as to pass through the group of the pawls 9 of the fitting 8. Since stretching force and compressing force generate by the brace 7 equally acts on the respective pawls, the strength of the device 6 can be improved.
