PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting and lowering controller of a tiller capable of making an operation for correcting a standard value of a cover sensor unnecessary even after starting the tilling operation by turning a key switch. SOLUTION: This lifting and lowering controller of a tiller has a controller 19 for carrying out the lifting and lowering control of a lifting and lowering device so that the rotary tiller may be kept at a target tilling depth based on the result detected by a cover sensor, and constituted so that the tilling depth may be controlled based on the standard value memorized in a memory means 26 before carrying out the on-operation of a key switch 27 and lifting the rotary tiller to a prescribed level. The controller 19 has the memory means 26 for memorizing the signal value detected by the cover sensor in a freely suspended posture of a rear cover as the standard value in a swinging dislocation for each time of the lifting of the rotary tiller to the prescribed level. The memory means 26 is constituted of the non-volatile one.
