<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detoxify a waste gas by substituting and producing a harmless compound (chloride) for the harmful substance, especially hydrogen chloride in the decomposed gas (waste gas) produced by heating the material to be treated in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, and to safely recover metals from the treated substance. SOLUTION: The material to be treated is dried in a mixture supplying means 20, to which a reaction reagent is added and mixed, and the mixture is supplied to a furnace 10 having a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The mixture is heat treated in the non-oxidizing atmosphere to remove impurities depositing on the metal, while hydrogen chloride produced in the decomposed gas is subjected to catalytic reaction with the reaction reagent to be substituted by harmless chlorides. Thus, the gas is detoxified and discharged through a funnel 33.</p> |
