摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain mercury of high purity at a low cost by selectively reducing and vaporizing mercury contained in mercury-contg. waste in a reducing atmosphere, collecting the product as a mercury compd. by an adsorbing material, executing vaporizing once more to obtain gaseous mercury, cooling and condensing the gaseous merely and then recovering the condensate as liq. mercury. SOLUTION: The reducing atmosphere is the one contg. a reducing material and may be a gaseous one or liq. one. As the reducing gaseous atmosphere, the one composed of hydrogen, CO, methanol, ethylene, hydrocarbon such as propane as the main gaseous component is cited, and, as the atmosphere of reducing liq., the soln. of stannous chloride, stannous chloride contg. H2SO4, alkaline hydrazine, acidic sodium boride, or the like, is cited. As the adsorbing material to be used, the one obtd. by carrying sodium chloride or calcium chloride on activated carbon, an acidic soln. of potassium permanganate contg. H2SO4, gold thin film-coated particles, or the like, is cited. The preferable cooling temp. is -40 to -45 deg.C.</p>
