<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital printer capable of improving print quality by dispersing density irregularities caused by load fluctuations on an image plane. SOLUTION: A means 7 to count picture elements performing printing for each gradation, means 13 and 14 comparing the count obtained by the counting means with the number of picture elements defined previously as the number of picture elements simultaneously printed and dividing the picture elements into a plurality of groups, a means 8 determining the number of divisions, a means 12 generating constantly a plurality of data mask signals corresponding to the total number of divisions presumed and to disperse printing picture elements in each group throughout a line. Printing of each gradation is grouped into a plurality of divided printing periods in accordance with the number of divisions, and in each divided printing period, one of data mask signals is selected, and by logic operations on the selected data mask signal and printing data signals, printing of each gradation is executed in parts a plurality of times.</p> |
