PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a transfer image having a high image density on an image receiving sheet even by laser recording with a high energy. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer sheet 10 is combined with an image receiving sheet having an image receiving layer, and used for a method for forming an image by laser recording the image. In this case, when a photothermal conversion layer 14 and an image forming layer 16 are provided on a support 12, the layer 16 of the sheet 10 and the receiving layer of the receiving sheet are oppositely superposed, irradiated from the support 12 side of the sheet 10 with a laser having an energy of 220 mJ/cm2, and a laser irradiated area of the layer 16 is transferred onto the receiving layer of the receiving sheet, a centerline mean roughness Ra on the surface of the forming layer transferred to the receiving layer is 0.2 μm or less. |
