PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for regulating a thickness and a holding force of a bookbinding block. SOLUTION: An induction measuring instrument 42 measures a distance to a contact roller pressed to a bookbinding block 1 by a predetermined pressing force, and outputs this measured value to a regulator 27. The regulator 27 compares the measured value with a reference value detected during a regulating operation, and drives a regulating driver 36 based on the compared result. The driver 36 moves chain beams 21a, 21b through a toothed bent driver 35 and a regulating spindle 33 with clockwise threads and counterclockwise threads, and can regulate its interval to a thickness of the block 1.
