HOT SLAB THICKNESS PRESSING METHOD AND EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot slab thickness pressing method and equipment, which can restrain occurrence of width fluctuation and also restrain load increasing even at a high reduction when a hot slab being sent is pressed in a width direction with dies. SOLUTION: This equipment is provided with a pair of upper and lower dies having downstream-side parallel surfaces 3a parallel to the top and bottom surfaces of a slab 1 and upstream-side tapered surfaces 3b extended obliquely from the parallel surface to the upstream side, a reduction mechanism 6 to open/close the spacing of the upper and lower dies which are arranged at opposite and lower parts in a way to sandwich the slab, a pair of upper and lower vertical shafts 8a and 8b to support the upper and lower dies in horizontally movable way, and a moving mechanism to move the upper and lower dies in mutually opposing directions. Additionally, the equipment reduces the slab by moving the upper and lower dies in mutually opposing directions with the vertical shaft as the moving center.
