METHOD FOR UTILIZING WASTE COPPER MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reutilize a waste copper material as copper resources while reducing economic loss by using the waste copper material from a step for producing a printed wiring board or from a step for recycling used electric and electronic appliances as a material of a deodorization catalyst having high added value. SOLUTION: The concentration of copper in chips of a printed wiring board as a waste copper material is increased, nitric acid is allowed to act on the waste copper material having an increased concentration of copper to prepare a copper nitrate solution and insoluble matter is removed from the copper nitrate solution. These steps are incorporated into a process for producing an ordinary copper-manganese multiple oxide catalyst. The waste copper material is effectively utilized as a material for producing the catalyst.
