PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which is capable of achieving the barking of a cryptomeria pillar with its effect always kept within a specified range and besides, performing a rough braking, a finish barking and back spitting through a single process in a full automatic mode or in a semiautomatic mode in an unconventional barking process, without depending on labor. SOLUTION: This device comprises two rectangular lumbers fitted into the lower face part, a large dia. rotating roller 8a and a small dia. rotating roller 8b, fixed to the positions of the tip part and the base part of a cryptomeria pillar 4 to be worked on the upper part, the position of which is adjusted to the length of the cryptometia pillar 4 and fixed with the help of a split inclined coupling. In addition, powerful water is ejected from a nozzle with a rotating jet opening to be fixed from the lower face part of the cryptomeria pillar 4 between rotary shafts 6, 7, and is selectively adjusted according to the degree of difficulty to bark the pillar 4. Thus it is possible to effectively peel the bark of the cryptomeria pillar 4 selectively in an apple rind stripping manner or in a banana skin stripping manner or in a combination of both manners by reciprocating and reversing the water jet between the tip part 4a and the base part 4b.
