PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drill a sprocket hole while delivering a virgin tape without receiving influence of connection of the virgin tape (tape type article before drilling the sprocket hole) and a drilled tape. SOLUTION: This drilling device stops both of punching movement of a punching mechanism 5 and rotational driving of a sprocket wheel 4 immediately before a connecting part reaches the sprocket wheel 4 by initially separating the sprocket wheel 4 from the punching mechanism 5 by making it possible to vary its position to the horizontal direction so that the sprocket wheel 4 approaches and separates from the punching mechanism 5. Thereafter, a virgin tape 100 is sandwiched by a movable type 5a and a fixed type 5b, and a sprocket hole H is drilled on the virgin tape 100 by making its tooth part 4' engaged with the sprocket hole H drilled on the virgin tape 100 by varying its position to the horizontal direction so as to make the sprocket wheel 4 approach the punching mechanism 5 to avoid the connecting part.
