摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the magnetic permeability of an alloy target for magneto- optical recording composed of a rare earth metal-transition metal alloy, moreover to reduce the content of oxygen in the target and furthermore to facilitate the regeneration of the alloy target for magneto-optical recording. SOLUTION: This alloy target for magneto-optical recording is a planar body contg. R (one or more kinds among Tb, Dy, Gd, Sm, Nd, Ho, Tm and Er) and T (transition metals such as Fe, Co and Ni), having a substantially homogeneous sintered structure and having <=3 magnetic permeability and >=8 mm thickness. This is produced by a process of melting rapid cooling pulverizing baking under pressure by a high frequency furnace or a crucible furnace. After the use of this target, mechanical pulverizing is executed to obtain regenerated alloy powder, this regenerated alloy powder and the alloy powder before the baking under pressure in the above process are mixed, and this is baked under pressure and therefore can be made into a target once more.
