PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the function of a buffer type guard fence by arranging a support section and a buffer body between interfaces of an upper skeleton and a lower skeleton, and setting the fence on a road surface so that its side walls extend along a vehicle traveling direction. SOLUTION: A buffer type guard fence 1 is constituted of an upper skeleton 2 and a lower skeleton 3 each formed of a rigid body, and a cushioning material 4 interposed between them. Side surfaces of each skeleton 2, 3 are disposed so as to form vehicle-facing wall surfaces 17. Next, an interface 2a at the bottom of the skeleton 2 is formed into a convex curved surface, and a convex portion 3c having an almost trapezoid cross section is protrusively formed at an almost central portion of an interface 3a on the upper surface of the skeleton 3, so as to abut on the interface 2a. Then, the cushioning material 4 has its upper surface slant along the curved surface of the interface 2a to be progressively spread toward edges 4c, and the cushioning material 4 is rigidly fixed to the interfaces 2a, 3a. When the fence 1 is laid, an anchor bolt 10 erected on foundation concrete is inserted into anchor bolt embedding hole 9 of the skeleton 3, to thereby fix the fence 1. Thus, fatigue of the buffer material can be prevented, and an impact force generated at the time of vehicle collision can be drastically alleviated. Further, after receding of the impact force, the guard fence can be erected to assume its original position.
