PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal polyester fiber which comprises a polyester having the melting point at a specific temperature or higher, has an absolute elongation of specific value or lower, has excellent heat resistance and excellent mechanical strength, and further has excellent dimensional stability at high temperatures. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal polyester fiber comprises a polyester having a melting point of >=270 deg.C, preferably >=300 deg.C and an absolute elongationΔL of <=200μm. The polyester preferably comprises a liquid crystal polyester having repeating units of the formulas: O-R1-CO, O-R2-O, O-CH2CH2-O, etc. (R1 is 1,4- phenylene or 2,6-naphthalene; and R2 is 1,4-biphenylene or the like). The absolute elongationΔL is obtained by measuring linear expansion coefficient (ΔL/L0) (L0 is 20 mm which is the length of a sample at a standard temperature 25 deg.C) temperature curves of a temperature elevation 1 (from room temperature to 170 deg.C), a temperature elevation 2 (from room temperature to 210 deg.C) and a temperature elevation 3 (from room component to 250 deg.C) and then calculating the absolute elongationΔL from L0-L3 (L3 is the length of the sample after the measurement of the temperature elevation 3).
