PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dehydrated UV screening composition useful as a screen for controlling or preventing damage of the skin induced by ultraviolet rays (UV light) by including octocrylene, octyl dodecyl neopentanoate and a lower alcohol vehicle. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by including (preferably about 1-15 wt.%) octocrylene (i.e., 2-ethylhexyl-2-cyano-3,3-diphenyl-2-propenoate), (preferably about 1-50 wt.%) octyl dodecyl neopentanoate and (preferably about 10-90 wt.%) 1-4C alcohol vehicle (e.g. an absolute alkanol such as ethanol). The application of the composition to the skin can solve problems such as lowness in sun protection factor(SPF), an unpleasant sense to the skin, easy elimination of the composition by washing and bathing, and the adhesion of particles such as sand and dust to the skin.
