PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely automate an assembling line of a hydraulic damper by inserting a piston rod into a cylinder, fixing a cap to a protruded end of the piston rod after an oil seal and a rod guide are attached to an opening part of the cylinder, and welding a joint. SOLUTION: In the case where a hydraulic damper is assembled in such a way that a piston 2 is attached to one end 1a of a piston rod 1, and a rod guide 4 and an oil seal are set to an opening part of a cylinder 3 after the piston 2 is inserted into the cylinder 3. A cap 6 is attached to an upper end 1b of the piston rod 1 protruded from the cylinder 3, a joint 7 is welded, and then an assembly is completed. In this time, a groove part 8 is formed on an outer periphery of the upper end 1b, and the cap 6 is caulked. A receiving jig is disposed downward the cap 6, the joint 7 is pushed to an end surface of the upper end 1b while supporting a lower surface of the cap 6, welding is carried out, and then, a load of the piston rod 1 is received by the receiving jig.
