PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-treated metallic material a surface of which has excellent coating film adhesion, corrosion resistance, shock resistance and processability and in which a coating film layer applied on an outermost layer exhibits high coating film hardness and to provide a manufacturing method thereof in the metallic material made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy or a stainless steel. SOLUTION: The surface-treated metallic material has a roughened surface which is formed on a surface of the metallic material made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy or a stainless steel and has surface roughness R2 of 5 to 50μm, a film layer which is formed on a whole surface of the metallic material including the roughened surface by a chemical treatment or an anodic oxidation treatment, and the coating film layer which is provided as the outermost layer. Further in the manufacturing method of the surface-treated metallic material, the film layer is formed by subjecting the metallic material surface to a roughening treatment by which surface roughness R2 is 5 to 50μm and then to the chemical treatment or the anodic oxidation treatment and, then, a coating material is applied on the film layer to provide a coating film layer.
