PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a decorative material having excellent staining resistance too by using a moisture absorbing and releasing resin layer made from a resin composition prepared by adding an inorganic porous substance and a water- repellent additive to a resin being an acrylic resin, a polyolefin resin, or a mixture thereof. SOLUTION: The moisture absorbing and releasing resin layer containing the inorganic porous substance can allow the decorative material to exhibit excellent moisture absorbing and releasing properties, while the added water- repellent material can allow the surface of the moisture absorbing and releasing layer to exhibit the ability to repel liquid water without detriment to the permeability of gaseous water, namely, moisture absorbing and releasing properties. Even if the decorative material is stained, its water repellency prevents the contaminants from penetrating into the resin layer and can facilitate the removal of them. The inorganic porous substance is desirably one having a mean particle diameter of about 0.1-100μm and a mean pore diameter of 10-60Åand is desirably activated clay. The water-repellent additive is exemplified by a silicone-type or fluororesin-type one.
