PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a structure, reduce a cost, and prevent a valve element from adhering to a vale seat so as to normally open the valve element in case of backfire thereby to secure effectiveness, by providing an exhaust gas recirculating valve with a function as a relief valve. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas recirculating valve 1 comprises: a valve element 2 seated/isolated to/from a valve seat 5 from an exhaust passage side; a helical compression spring 10 constantly applying urging force in seating direction to the valve element 2; a push rod 24 separated from the valve element 2 to press the valve element 2 when the valve body 2 is isolated from the valve seat 5 against the urging force of the helical compression spring 10. The urging force of the helical compression spring 10 is set so that the valve element 2 can isolated from the valve seat 5, against the urging force of the helical compression spring 10, be when the pressure in an intake passage rises up to a predetermined positive pressure.
