PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the dry modification of a marker substance and/or an active substance in an inhalable powdery carrier substance and provide an apparatus for the production. SOLUTION: In the case of modifying a marker substance and/or an active substance, the substance to be modified is dissolved in a liquid, the liquid is evaporated, the aerosol liquid particles are dried and the obtained aerosol particles are agitated in a state contacting with a powdery substance to maintain the inhalable powdery carrier substance and its characteristics. The apparatus for the modification process is an aerosol generator 11 provided with a drying means for drying the formed aerosol particles and a nozzle-type, ultrasonic-type or other evaporator for evaporating the modifying substance dissolved in a liquid. The apparatus is further provided with a mixing chamber 12 to effect the turbulent flow contact with dried aerosol particles circulated and introduced into the chamber.
