PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holder to hold a machining tool on a tool holding shaft with high holding rigidity. SOLUTION: The holder body 24 of a tool holder 10 is separated away from a taper junk 26. The straight fit-in part 80 of the taper junk 26 is slidably fitted in the straight hole 70 of the holder body 24, and a spring member 100 is situated between the two members and energizes the members in a direction in which the members approach each other. When the tool holder 10 to hold a machining tool is attached to a main spindle 16, the taper junk 26 is inserted in the taper hole 154 of the main spindle 16 and pulled in a pull-stud 28. The rear end face 34 of the holder body 24 makes contact with the tip surface 150 of the main spindle 16. Further, by pulling in the taper junk 26 against the energization force of the spring member 100, the taper junk 26 is moved over the holder body 24, a taper fit-in part 84 makes shrink-fit in a taper hole 154, and a rear end face 34 is strongly pulled to the tip face 150.
