PURPOSE: Provided is a method for annealing hot rolled austenitic stainless steel strip containing Mo, which is capable of producing an austenitic stainless steel strip with superior picklability in high yield via proper control of excess oxygen amount in batch annealing furnace. CONSTITUTION: In the annealing method of a hot rolled austenitic stainless steel strip where the hot rolled austenitic stainless steel strip comprising C 0.08wt.% or less, Cr 16-18wt.%, Ni 10-15wt.%, Mo 2-3wt.%, N 2-3wt.%, Si 1.0wt.% or less, Mn 2.0wt.% or less, B 0.009wt.% or less, a balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities is annealed in a batch annealing furnace in the temperature range 1010 to 1180deg.C, the present invention is characterized in that the batch annealing furnace is operated under 3-10vol.% of excess oxygen atmosphere.
