PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device for a multistep pole for marks which is housed so as to be vertically extensible and can be extended and locked by a simple manipulation and built in a pole. SOLUTION: In a stepped pole in which an inner pipe 2 is inserted in an outer pipe 1 to be vertically slidable, when the front end of a locking rod 6 where a locking base board 5 provided with an opening 51 having the same shape as a lower hole of the inner pipe 2 is appropriately and inscribably screwed in the lower hole of the inner pipe 2 and the locking rod 6 is loosely fitted to the opening 51 and attached to the shaft to be eccentrically movable by the pivotal shaft 52 is inserted in the upper hole 11 of the outer pipe, the locking rod 6 is locked to the upper hole edge by an elevation angle-regulating structure for the movable locking rod 6 and retained in a prolonged state.
