PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having excellent antitumor properties both in vivo and in vitro, high safety, suitable for administration in a liquid dosage form, useful for treating cancers. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (X and Y are each a halogen or the like; R1, R3 and R4 are each H or the like; R2 is OH or the like; R5 and R6 are each a group of the formula O-CO-UP-V and when one of them is the group, the other is OH or the like; U is a 1-8C alkylene chain substitutable with OH or the like; V is carboxy or the like), preferably (±)- cis-4- [1-(acetyloxy)-6-methoxy-3,3,14-trimethyl-7-oxo-2,3,7,14-tetrahydro-1H- benzo[b]pyrano[3,2-h]acridin-2-yl]oxy}-4-oxobutanoic acid, etc. The compound of formula I is obtained by a preferable production method for reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (R is H or the like) to give a compound of formula IV and directly treating the compound with a compound of the formula (V-U-CO)2O in the presence of a base.
