PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve practicality by a method in which image data inputted from an external apparatus is displayed on a display means, the magnification of an image is changed to a display magnification assigned by a magnification assignment means, the displayed image the magnification of which is changed is read, and the image is formed in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: LCD 51 is incorporated into the press plate 50 of an analog copying machine, the LCD 51 is connected to a personal computer 52 by a cable and others, an image 53 outputted from the personal computer 52 such as image data and letter data is displayed on the LCD 51 as an LCD image 54. A display magnification is made assignable by a prescribed display magnification assigning means, and an image the magnification of which is changed to a prescribed magnification is displayed on the LCD 51. With the LCD image displayed at a prescribed position of the LCD 51, the press plate 50 is closed, the LCD image 54 displayed on the LCD 51 is scanned by a manuscript illumination lamp, and the image is formed. By handling the analog copying machine as the printer of a personal computer and others, the practicability of the copying machine is improved.
