PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand dryer with simplified control. SOLUTION: This hand dryer is provided with an intake port 2 introducing air, a blower 5 sucking air from the intake port 2, a heating section 8 heating the air from the blower 5, a blowout section 9 blowing-out the heated air heated by the heating section 8, a hand insertion section 22 for drying a hand with the heated air from the blowout port 9, a detection section 23 detecting the presence or absence of the hand in the hand insertion section 22, and a controller 30 controlling the blower 5 and heating section 8 by receiving the detection signal from the detection section 23. The controller 30 controls the blower 5 so that the wind quantity of the blower 5 becomes a prescribed quantity at a fixed time after the detection section detects the presence of the hand, and a positive-characteristic thermistor 20 is used for the heating section 8.
