PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize luminescence excellent in light emission efficiency and long-term stability by incorporating a layer containing at least one quinacridone compound bearing a specific substituent group into an element comprising an illuminant layer, containing an organic light-emitting substance, sandwiched between an anode and a cathode. SOLUTION: A quinacridone compound represented by the formula is employed. In the formula, at least one of R3 and R7 is a substituent group which has a positive Hammett's substituent constantσp R3 or R7 other than the one substituent above, R4 and R8 are each any one of A-C below; and R5, R6 and R11-R14 are each any one of A-C below, or at least one pair of two adjacent groups join together with carbon atoms in a parent skeleton to form an alicyclic or aromatic ring. A is H, a halogen, an amino group, a nitro group or a cyano group; B is a 1-18C hydrocarbyl group; C is -OR21, -COR22, -NHR23 or NR24R25; and m is 1 or 2.
