PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbon cassette with a means of cutting labels without using a cutting tool and damaging the interior of a printer. SOLUTION: When a ribbon cassette 1 is mounted on a carriage 13 and then when a printer mechanism section 12 is driven, a cutter 7 is pushed out to a chassis section 14 when the carriage 13 is moved back to the left end, and the cutter 7 is passed through a slit 10 and a printed label 4 is brought into contact with a steel plate 11 and cut thereon. The cutter 7, therefore, is stored in the ribbon cassette 1 by the force of a spring 8 when the label 4 is cut and the carriage 13 is moved in the right direction.
