PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic buffer for a vehicle to perform reliable detent of a cylinder body on the car body side. SOLUTION: A piston rod 6 is inserted in a cylinder body 2 from below, and a subtank 3 being positioned individually from the cylinder body 2 is coupled to the upper part of the cylinder body 2. In a so formed hydraulic buffer 1 for a vehicle, a rod member 18 is situated at the upper part of the cylinder body 2, a rod member 18 is fixed on the car body 34 side through a spherical bearing (a pin joint member) 33, and one end part of an arm member 22 extending in a direction in which it crosses an axis is held at the rod member 18. A regulation member 43 fixed on the car body 34 side is brought into contact with the arm member 22 to regulate rotation of the arm member 22. This constitution, since the regulation member 43 fixed on the car body 34 side is brought into contact with the arm member 22 to regulate rotation of the arm member 22, also regulates rotation of the cylinder body 2 coupled to the arm member 22 through the rod member 18 and perform reliable detent of the cylinder body 2 by the car body 34 side.
