PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of reducing a quantity of consumed ink during the flushing after completion of cleaning. SOLUTION: This ink jet recorder comprises a recording head having a plurality of nozzle openings 3, a plurality of pressure generating chambers 2 communicating with the respective nozzle openings 3 and head driving means for ejecting ink through the nozzle openings 3 and a cleaning control means that executes a cleaning operation for sucking ink in the vicinity of the nozzle openings 3 by applying negative pressure to the nozzle openings 3. The plurality of nozzle openings 3 are divided into plural partitions by colors of inks. A flushing control means controls the flushing such that a quantity of ejected ink in the partition during the flushing after completion of the cleaning operation is greater as the partition has the greater number of nozzle openings. As a result, it is possible to reduce the quantity of the consumed ink during the flushing after the completion of the cleaning. |
