PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ophthalmic ointment for ophthalmic infectious disease therapy, particularly an ophthalmic ointment effective on ophthalmic infectious diseases caused by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) or methicillin resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis(MRSE) as a causal bacterium. SOLUTION: The ophthalmic ointment for ophthalmic infectious disease therapy is obtained by including vancomycin hydrochloride in a proportion of 0.01-5.0 wt.% as an active ingredient. When the ointment is topically administrated, the therapeutically more effective concentration can be maintained without inducing adverse drug reactions, e.g. nephrotoxicity and the like, in comparison with intravenous administration.
