PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing coke for metallurgy which can produce high porosity, low bulk density coke without reducing strength with the use of normal blended coal. SOLUTION: Pseudo-particles having a pore-forming agent as the nucleus and a reinforcing agent attached around the nucleus are prepared, and blended coal having been mixed with these pseudo-particles is carbonized to obtain coke for metallurgy. In this instance, the pseudo-particles can be obtained by continuously feeding a pore-forming agent, a binder and a reinforcing agent in the order named to an agitated conveyor 1, continuously conveying these components, mixing them in a mixer 10 and granulating the resulting mixture by a granulator 13.
